Faculty Consultant for Curriculum Development
Deepa Deshpande, Ph.D., serves as Faculty Consultant for Curriculum Development. In her role, she supports faculty, graduate teaching assistants, and staff members in the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of quality curricula. She also authors resources and creates innovative professional development experiences that meet current campus needs in the following areas: course-based assessment, large classroom teaching, experiential learning, active learning and engaged teaching.
Deepa earned her doctorate in Education from University of Tennessee, Knoxville, with an emphasis on Learning Environments and Education Studies. She also holds a Master’s in Instructional Systems from Pennsylvania State University, and a Master’s in Physics from University of Pune, India. After spending more than 20 years teaching physics, she began working with educators (including at the University of Tennessee) to develop, refine and evaluate technology-enabled instructional and assessment systems (curricular resources) that enhance student outcomes, engagement, and equity, particularly in STEM domains.
