How To Teach Online: Certification Seminar for Graduate Students


Certificate Series Overview

During this seminar series, participants will learn the principles and practices associated with building an online course. It will include fundamentals of designing and teaching online courses, universal design and accessibility in online education, engaging students in online courses, and technology in the online course. Students who complete this will receive CIRTL Practitioner level certification.

  • Please note that this is a seminar series limited to graduate or postdoctoral students only.  Faculty or instructional staff interested in learning how to teach online should visit VOLS Online for more information on training opportunities.
  • Over the course of this five-part seminar series, participants will learn the principles and practices associated with building an online course. It will include fundamentals of designing and teaching online courses, universal design and accessibility in online education, engaging students in online courses, and technology in the online course.
  • Seminar dates are as followed:
    • September 2, 2020 from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. on Zoom
    • September 9, 2020 from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. on Zoom
    • September 16, 2020 from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. on Zoom
    • September 23, 2020 from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. on Zoom
    • October 7, 2020 from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. on Zoom

Certification Requirements

Attendance of all zoom sessions is required.  Participants that complete all coursework and outcomes will earn a Practitioners level certificate in the CIRTL network.
