Graduate Research Associate
Karen Richters is a Graduate Research Associate for Teaching & Learning Innovation. In her role, Richters primarily assists with communications and marketing for TLI by creating marketing content and editing educational content through graphic design and video editing.
Richters is a master’s candidate in Communication with a concentration in Journalism and Electronic Media. She earned her B.A. in Global Studies, with a concentration in global societies and culture, and French Language & Literature from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in 2014. During her undergraduate career, Richters worked as a research assistant in Dr. Neal Stewart’s Plant Lab for all years except one, which was spent studying abroad on a year-long exchange program in Grenoble, France. After catching the travel bug, Richters returned abroad after graduation to teach English for two years – one year in Paris, France and one in Martinique. Upon her return to the U.S., Richters got a job in the UT Programs Abroad Office as Marketing & Outreach Coordinator, where she worked for four years.
A Knoxville native, Richters loves spending time outdoors from swimming at the Quarry to kayaking down the TN River, from trail running in South Knoxville to hiking in the Smokies.
