Disability and neurodivergence are often discussed in extremely clinical, abstract, jargon-y terms. In this workshop, Macey Pierce from the UT FUTURE program offers a more human, approachable image of Neurodivergence and how we can make space for and support the full spectrum of neurology in our work. Through both her personal experience of neurodiversity/disability and her extensive work as an educator and support worker with others of overlapping but distinct experiences, Macey leverages personal connection and story-telling to help provide insight that can (1) help you form a more authentic, empathetic relationships with neurodivergent students and peers, and (2) leverage that knowledge and those relationships in order to craft better learning environments and experiences.
We anticipate that this workshop will be extremely conversational in tone, so we encourage you to be ready to share any questions or wonderings you may have, regardless of whether the wondering is specific or vague.
