Series Information
UT Libraries, the Department of Psychology, and Teaching and Learning Innovation invite anyone from UT to participate in the Lifelong Learning Book Club this Spring 2023 semester. This upcoming Spring 2023 semester, we will be reading Relationship-Rich Education: How Human Connections Drive Success in College By Peter Felten & Leo M. Lambert. Dr. Peter Felten will be the keynote speaker at the 2023 Innovative Teaching and Learning Conference hosted by TLI on March 23rd, 2023. This is a great opportunity to become familiar with his work. He may also attend one of the book club sessions! This book club aims to promote a community of support around lifelong learning for teachers and students a like. So faculty, staff, and students are all welcome!

TLI’s “Reclaiming the Joy in Teaching” series is centered on celebrating, providing support, and journeying with faculty to identify and rediscover their joy and personal motivation for becoming faculty here at UTK. Through each event, faculty will have the opportunity to individually reflect, connect with one another, and consider new ideas, strategies, and approaches to teaching and learning, as well as ways to successfully navigate faculty life. All members of the university’s instructional community are welcome to attend each offering. All instructional staff (including graduate student instructor and TAs) are welcome to participate.

The purpose of this workshop series is to offer faculty and student instructors an overview of the scholarship of teaching and learning, and then embark on a hands-on process to help you develop and refine your ideas and plans, with the support of some special faculty guests (TBA) and TLI staff.
Sessions will be facilitated by TLI staff, as well as select faculty and campus experts, who can offer practical examples of the practices being discussed. Participants may choose to attend one, two, or all three sessions depending on their interests and availability. All instructional staff (including graduate students) are welcome to participate.

TLI Coffee Break with the Colleges
We will also be continuing to offer our newer program started back in the fall: “TLI Coffee Break with the Colleges”. For this opportunity, members of TLI will be available in a selected college each month to work with individual faculty members, graduate student instructors, and others to answer their questions and have conversation about any of their teaching and learning needs. More information about where we will be each month is listed below. The 1st 20 attendees at each event will receive a FREE “TLI Appreciates Faculty” travel tumbler.
