During the fall semester, I used an open textbook that I published myself to teach ELI 110. It was helpful to reduce student financial stress to use open resources, and they have appreciated not having to spend money on textbooks for my course.
Also, because our readings are accessible online, I had students use Perusall, a digital social annotation tool, to add notes and comments embedded in the text, so students read actively and interacted with the text and each other online.
