Welcome to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville to our new Faculty Vols!

About: As new faculty at UT Knoxville, you will come to find that faculty have access to a wide variety of supportive services and resources that will help make your experience here extremely rewarding. To provide our students with the unique Volunteer Experience, it begins with you: our faculty. Therefore, we would like to invite you to the 2019 New Faculty Teaching Institute (NFTI) on August 8 and 9, 2019.

Whether you’re beginning your teaching career or are an experienced instructor, the NFTI offers faculty new to UT the opportunity to learn about various campus resources that are available to support instructors’ teaching and students’ learning. In addition to networking and building relationships among fellow new UT faculty from diverse disciplines, faculty will be able to think intentionally about how to engage students in the classroom and online through mini workshop sessions, panel discussions and demonstrations. Topics include:

  • Building learning outcomes,
  • Creating assessment plans,
  • Active learning in online environments,
  • Inclusive teaching strategies, and
  • Much more.

Schedule: You can view the full NFTI agenda via our Schedule webpage.

Additional Faculty Orientations: Several offices on campus are offering orientation opportunities before classes begin. Download this flyer for more information.
